No verified dedicated public scale house on this stretch of I-40

We have not found a walk-up public scale house in Gallup, Thoreau, Grants or Milan with an operator page we can cite, and ScaleRegistry’s public-weighing page lists none in New Mexico. We are not inventing one from mines, quarries, landfill gate scales, or third-party trucker directories. All three stops below are CAT Scales at truck stops, verified on TA Petro’s and Pilot Flying J’s own location pages.

CAT Scales at Gallup, Jamestown and Milan

We list only stops verified on the operator’s own location page. Flying J #305 includes CAT Scale in its store offerings and says Open 24 Hours. TA Gallup and Petro Milan list CAT Scale among their amenities and say fuel is available 24/7, but the hours they print are restaurant hours, so we leave their scale hours blank. None of the three publishes a CAT-staffing schedule. 2,000 lb floor. No corner weights. Weigh the whole rig, then drop the trailer and weigh the tow vehicle for the trailer number. Do not unload horses at a truck stop. New Mexico weighmaster rules differ from California — confirm ticket needs with your TO or licensing office. Use CAT’s locator for other stops.

Do not go here for a ticket

New Mexico ports of entry on I-40 (including the Gallup port near the Arizona line) are for commercial vehicles — not a place to buy a civilian weighmaster ticket for a U-Haul, RV, boat, horse trailer, or PPM load. Follow posted signs; do not treat this directory as a bypass guide.

What we still need to verify

Any dedicated public scale house in Gallup or Grants with an operator page that sells walk-up weighmaster certificates. CAT-scale staffing hours at all three stops. ONE9 #1358 Gallup (Exit 16) is held: its page FAQ has said it has a CAT scale, but its own offerings list does not include one. Love’s #215 Gallup does not list a CAT Scale on its own page. Albuquerque CAT stops are not on this page yet. Livestock policy everywhere.
